'I Spit On Your Grave' Trailer HD
The remake for I Spit On Your Grave is set for a limited theatrical run in the fall of
2010 by Anchor Bay films. Ot will then be released on DVD early in 2011. No word on the rating but the producers are promising this will be a brutal film and that the violence will be ramped up. Where have we heard that before? Just every lame remake released in the last ten years. I'm expecting a flashy glitzy film with non of the emotio of the original film. I Spit on Your Grave was a hard film to sit through. It went to levels of degradation that modern films don't have the strength to go to. At the very least I expect this to be a gory Hostel copycat, at the worst a snooze fest

Stranded (Djinns) English-subtitled trailer
First look trailer for the French movie Djinns or Stranded. I'm interested in this but the invisible enemy has been done a lot lately and several times in military/combat situation. Still the French have a way with visceral horror.

ten most disturbing horror films of all time
Warning: Spoilers Ahead
2. Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer -The film that made Michael Rooker a star was based in large part on the real life killings of drifter Henry Lee Lucas. The film is so disturbing that even co star Tom Towles has only seen it once. The world of Henry is a bleak cold world. No policeman is ever seen on camera which was done on purpose to help preserve the idea that Henry and Otis lived in a lawless world. What makes it disturbing? The brutality of the murders, especially the home invasion scene, as well as the overall bleak atmosphere. At the Telluride festival an audience member reportedly went up to the director and complained "You can't do that," referring to the fact that Henry escapes justice in the film. It was originally given an X rating by the MPAA and is one of the films responsible for the creation of the NC-17 rating.
The films I left out and why
1. Martyrs- This French horror film is one of the most brutal films I have ever see. One of the things that makes it so brutal is the reality of it all. Very little of what we see in Martyrs is outside the realm of possibility. The film resolves around Ana and Lucia, two childhood friends tormented by Lucia's past. Things start out bad and only get worse. Is the creature tormenting Lucia really only in her mind? As brutal as the film is throughout, the last twenty minutes or so is almost unbearable as Lucia's past catches up with Ana. The ending is as bleak as a film has ever been. It was originally rated 18+ the equivalent of a X or NC-17 rating in the US. On appeal it was changed to a 16.

True Blood? True Hottie Anna Paquin!
True Blood is full of beautiful women and hot hunks, but the star of the show is Sookie Stackhouse played by Anna Paquin. Anna has horror cred beyond true Blood though. She will be starring alongside True Blood and real life biyfriend Stephen Moyer in Open House, directed by her brother Andrew. She also was in the superb Halloween horror movie Trick R Treat and 2002 s the Dark.

The Gene Generation
Gene Generation- Pretty bloody for a sci fi film and actually had a few horror elements. The plot was confusing as hell so lets just throw it out the window and say some people were looking for stuff someone else had, and some other people wanted some other stuff, then the same stuff etc, etc. Mayhem ensues. Bai Ling's acting, well probably the only thing that kept reminding me she wasn't a cardboard cut out was the six foot long nipples, that she showed in a few scenes. Nice but a bit of overkill on mother natures part. The thing I liked was the backgrounds which they didn't bother to make too realistic and gave it a steam punk kind of look. A lot of the architecture was very gothic and dark. You could have easily slipped in a cult of Cthuhlu and no one would have noticed. Speaking of the one who lies not dead, but dreaming, there were a shit load of tentacles in this film. Sprouted by a main character and used to kill. Its a mixed bag you might like it if you can just admire the scenery ( including Bai's nips) and gore but don;t expect much story wise.
The film also stars Parry Shen from Hatchet and Faye Dunaway

Samurai Princess
Samurai Princess is along the lines of Machine Girl and Tokyo Gore Police, closer to Machine Girl in theme and gore. It's biggest feature is booby grenades and a extendable snapping penis near the end. It does star an Asian porn star so there is some none transformed nudity but not a lot. If you liked the other Japanese body mod films you should at least check this out.
Battlestar Galactica hottie Tricia Helfer will be starring in the upcoming horror movie Open House, alongside the director's hot sister and True Blood star Anna Paquin. Here are a couple juicy pictures of Tricia Helfer. I will post a couple pics of Anna soon.
I think she is checking for cylons in the last one
Honorable Mention List of the most disturbig horror movies of all time
Ok so I guess it is strange to be posting an honorable mention list before the top ten list. There is a reason to the madness. I have the top ten list but am publishing it first on Associated Content. Why, you ask? You are asking right? Well Associated Content pays much more than I am making on the blog right now. I hope that changes someday and I can post everything here first. Anyway here is the honorable mention films that will not be on my most disturbing list
The films mentioned her were not left off the list due to any deficiency in them. In fact these films may be more disturbing than some, if not all of the films in the top ten. Why then here and not above? Well for a variety of reasons. Some I do not consider a true horror film. The horror-non horror line can be very thin at times and I am sure I have crossed it above in some people’s eyes. This however is a list based upon my opinion. Hate me if you will. Others I simply have not seen and felt hypocritical adding them to the list, while reputation alone demands they garner mention here. On to the list in no particular order.
Oldboy- One of my favorite films, leaving it off the list was like pulling a tooth, which happens in Oldboy. Oldboy is a revenge film from director Park Chan-Wook and it has several cringe worthy moments. A truly beautiful film it is nevertheless hard to watch at times. Especially near the end when the truth starts to unfold. The last fifteen minutes will shake you. The last scene will leave you disturbed in its quiet peaceful horror. It is a film everyone should see, but be warned it will move you and leave you numb.
Salo- This is a film that I have not seen and almost made the list on reputation alone. I do feel that adding without watching it would be wrong and a bit hypocritical. I also have no plans on watching it soon. I have to be in a mood to watch a overly disturbing film. Plus after seeing a clip it contains elements of copraphagia which I find especially disturbing. You could say it was too disturbing for my list of the most disturbing films. The film is loosely based on the writings of the Marquis de Sade and set in Fascist Italy.
Eraserhead- I have seen parts of this David Lynch film but never been able to sit all the way through it. At least not yet. The parts I have seen are definitely disturbing and strange but also slow and it simply was not able to hold my attention. What I have seen also leaves me to question whether it belongs on a list of horror films. Right now I am reserving my judgment until I can watch the whole film.
Ichi the Killer- More bloody and disgusting than Miike’s Audition, the main reason I left it off was due to it being as much a comedy as a horror film. Some would say it is more of a thriller or just a revenge flick and they would all be right. Still I could have added it and been fairly comfortable except I was reluctant to add to many films from one director and Miike could have legitimately had at least four film on the list.
Visitor Q- Another Takashi Miike film that would most likely have made the list if I had actually seen it. It is probably the most disturbing of Miike’s films. Is it a horror story or not? Personally from what I have heard it is not really a horror story although it contains elements normally found in horror. The film contains Incest, necrophilia, sodomy (performed at the same time as the necrophilia), breast feeding and much more objectionable and twinge worthy elements.
Pet Semantary- The scenes of the killer child gage almost earned this a spot. If the scenes of Gage’s death were a little more explicit or closer to the book it probably would have made it. The scenes truly are disturbing especially to a parent. There are other killer child/baby films but I feel Pet Semantry is the most viscerally disturbing. The book by Stephen King is much more disturbing than the film. Like I mentioned it was a close call but I decided to leave it off.
Inside- Another film which has every right to be on the list but I decided not to include it. Why? Mainly because even though this is a best of list, I wanted to cover a wide range of films. The same basic argument as to why I did not include more Miike films. The French extreme genre was covered by the far better, and far more disturbing Martyrs. The story of a woman fighting for the life of her unborn child is haunting and ripped right out of today’s headlines. Mothers to be may find it impossible to watch. It is bloody, visceral and unrelenting

Horror hottie Nicki Aycox
You might remember her from Jeepers Creepers 2, possibly from the low budget but awesome Dead Birds. If you have seen the low budget werewolf stinker Animals you will definitely remember Nicki from her hot love scenes and oodles of nudity. If you have never seeen or heard of her, then salivate over these two pics.
A few more pictures of sexy ass Nicki Aycox are here
Piranha 3-D: New poster and photos
Yeah I'm excited about this pretty much just becasue I was on location during filming. Not that I was involved or even realised they were filming the big attack scene until it was over. Still, it will be cool to remember my trip to Arizona. Plus it does look to have some nice babe flesh in the form of extras. I'll post some pics over the next several days.
The Thing prequel update
The official synopsis for the new The Thing prequel has been released. I guess I should hope for the best but this is just chock full of fail in my opinion. The synopsis follows:
Paranoia spreads like an epidemic among a group of researchers as they’re infected, one by one, by a mystery from another planet. Paleontologist Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has traveled to the desolate region for the expedition of her lifetime.
Joining a Norwegian scientific team that has stumbled across an extraterrestrial ship buried in the ice, she discovers an organism that seems to have died in the crash eons ago. But it is about to wake up...
When a simple experiment frees the alien from its frozen prison, Kate must join the crew’s pilot, Carter (Joel Edgerton), to keep it from killing them off one at a time. And in this vast, intense land, a parasite that can mimic anything it touches will pit human against human as it tries to survive and flourish.

New trailer for Resident Evil Afterlife
It's on 3-D and I may be bad but I have to wonder if we are going to see Milla's nipples in 3-D. That would definitely be worth the ticket
The Child's Eye
October of 2010 is scheduled to see the release of the newest installment in The Eye franchise. A Child's Eye is written and directed by the Pang brothers. It will be the first Asian digital 3-D film. The offical synopsis of the film and a few stills follow.
A series of unfortunate events - a political crisis, blockades of international airport and roadblock totally disturb the plan of six travelers in Thailand. Unwillingly, they stayed in an aged and shabby hotel. From the moment they checked in, they came across three weird children and a puppy, and strange things started happening one after another...
Quarentine
One of the best of the American remakes of a foreign horror film is Quarantine. Quarantine is fairly faithful to it's Spanish predecessor although it does have a different motive for the outbreak. A motive that is not as fully explained as in the original. If you are not a fan of shaky cam it's a good bet you wont be a big fan of Quarantine. Seeing it in the theater gave me a pretty good headache. The effect isn't nearly as migraine inducing on the small screen. I really can't bring any major faults to bear on the film. Quarantine is a strong film with a capable cast lead by Jennifer Carpenter. Carpenter is probably best known as Deb Morgan on Dexter. Jay Hernandez of Hostel plays one of the firefighters. While Carpenter's hysterics get a bit annoying near the end, I found them realistic under the circumstances she was in. Seeing clips may lead you to think of her as a weak character, but she isn't. Her role is a strong character, way out of her league and in a hopeless situation. My only real bitch is that the promo poster and trailer give away too much. I won't spoil it by saying more about it. Still, while I really enjoyed Quarantine, I liked REC better. Pretty much everything I liked in Quarantine, I liked better in REC. The lead actress was more believable and personable as a TV host and the background cast seems less like actors and more like people filmed for a news crew. The people in REC just looked, and behaved, more like I would expect people to look on a broadcast from a disaster. That being said I highly recommend Quarantine, but watch REC first.

True Blood happenings
Later tonight True Blood returns for season three. Werewolves are added to the mix and it is about time! Timing is right too as Lycanthropes are all the rage right now. Check out a trailer for season three below. Also below is a new poster for Open House starring True Blood and real life couple Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer. Open House is direted by Annna Paquins brother, Andrew Paquin. It will be Paquin's directoral debut and also stars the super sexy Tricia Helfer from Battlestar Galactica. It is definitely worth a look just for Paquin and Helfer.

The Ninth Gate
From director Roman Polanksi and starring Johnny Depp, The Ninth Gate revolves around Depp playing Dean Corso who is basically a bounty hunter for rare books. Frank Langella stars as Boris Balkan a wealthy collector who hires Depp to find a rare and powerful book, reputed to be written by the devil himself. As he delves deeper into the satanic underbelly of Europe's elite, Depp gets drawn deeper into the dark side himself. The idea of forbidden books and films that hold a power of their own has always been a popular subject with me so I admit to being a fan of this film. I also am a huge Johnny Depp fan and he plays the sleazy book finder Dean Corso with his usual gusto. The problem with The Ninth Gate is that it is just so slow. The action is few and far between and scares are non existent. the best parts of the film are Depp and Langella and the fact that Polanski doesn't have time to have sex with thirteen year old girls if he is busy directing. If you go in expecting a real horror movie you will most likely be disappointed. If you want a fairly intelligent film or just want to indulge your Depp fix, then you might enjoy it
Ichi, Dracula and Captian Kirk
Ah, made a run to Best Buy tonight looking to get some older films. I had some measure of success as I bought a four pack of Hammer Dracula films, Draculas 4 film favorites.
I also picked up a new Japanese film called Ichi. This is no relation to the Takashi Miike film but a retelling of the Zatoichi legend with a female protagonist. Haven't had a chance to watch it yet but the cover looks interesting and Zato Ichi is a great character.
Last but not least I picked up the Star Trek Online video game to solidify my space in nerd heaven.

Wake Wood - Synopsis, pics and poster
Wow this movie really looks....a lot like pet Sematary. The poster does look sweet and the pictures are mildly creep. Plus it's umm shot in Ireland? That can't hurt.
Here's the synopsis
The film tells the story of Patrick and Louise Daley, whose nine year old daughter, Alice, is brutally killed in a frenzied dog attack. To escape their grief, the devastated young parents relocate from the city to the remote rural community of Wake Wood. Sensing their loss, the people of Wake Wood introduce the couple to a secret, pagan ritual that will allow them 3 more days with Alice before she is returned to the ground forever. But what will they do when it's time for Alice to go back?
stars Timothy Spall and Brenden Gleeson. Some pictures below

Ozzy Osbourne-Dreamer
For all my friends and neighbors suffering in the Gulf right now. Will mother earth survive?
Ganja and Hess
Ganja and Hess is a 1973 Vampires film starring Duane Jones. Jones is best known for his role of Ben in George Romero's classic Night of the Living Dead. Jones plays Dr Hess Green a archaeologist studying the ancient African kingdom of Myrthia. His assistant played by Bill Gunn, who also directs, is unstable and subject to bouts of violence. In one of his "freak outs" he stabs Green with an ancient Mythrian dagger and becomes infected with vampirism. After the assistant commits suicide his wife shows up searching for him and almost immediately falls in love with Hess and the two get married. While Ganja seems more than complacent in her new vampiric lifestyle, Hess seeks release from the curse. Playing vampirism for the most part more realistically than most films, they can walk in the sunlight and do not have fangs, they do crave blood and are essentially immortal. Hess does eventually find his release.
Ganja and Hess is a slow moving film but thanks in large part to the acting of Jones and Marlene Clark as Ganja, the film is never boring. It is visually very colorful and trippy fitting in with the time period it was filmed. Not excessively gory there are some scenes of fairly explicit violence.
At its most basic Ganja and Hess is a very unconventional vampire film. Below the surface it is also a film about addiction, comparing the addiction of drugs to slavery. The characters names are a not subtle hint at what this film is about, Hess being slang for hash and Ganja a common slang for marijuana. The only cure for vampirism in Ganja and Hess is surrendering to religion. This echos the role of religion in breaking drug addiction in real life. While many may argue that religion is just a placebo, it is a fact that many religious organizations are active in fighting addiction. Likewise religion was a vital part in freedom from slavery and a integral part of African American culture.
In the modern age of vampire redaction and pre-teen pablum such as Twilight, it is interesting to see a truly original take on vampirism. Ganja and Hess is not a kiddie film as it contains nudity, sex, violence and drug use among other nasties. Ganja and Hess belong to an era where story was more important than flash, and leading men needed talent not just emo hair and smooth skin. If you are a true horror fan, fan of Duane Jones or just a real movie fan, do yourself a favor and check out Ganja and Hess

Cthulhu's Reign
Picked this book up Friday and so far it has been an intereting read. It takes a novel approach to Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos. Where in Lovecraft, and most if those seeking to expand on the mythos, keep the great Cthulhu firmly buried beneath the sea, this book looks at what happens when the Elder One finally awakens. The stories all vary but remain fairly consistant. It would take little work to imagine that all the stories take place in a persistant universe. I'm a little over halfway through and haven;t found a story I totally dislike yet
The Church (La Chiesa) (1989) Official Trailer
Throwback to classic Italian horror, I give you the trailer to The Church or La Chiesa!! Also known as Demons 3 for a long time I thought it was directed by Dario Argento. The Church was actually directed by Michele Soavi, but when I first saw the film it was promoted as Dario Argento's the Church. Whatever name or however promoted The Church is great fun for fans of Italian horror. Check out the trailer!

John Carpenter set to direct Fangland
I don't know a lot about this other than it is a modern retelling of Dracula, still it is good to see Carpenter at the helm of a film again. Hopefully it will be better than Ghosts of Mars. Carpenter still has the goods, as he showed in Cigarette Burns. Unfortunately he followed that Masters of Horror success with the weak Pro-Life. Will we see the man who brought us Halloween andEscape From New York? Or will it be the Carpenter who appears happy to just rest in his past
